Kebijakan Guru dan Dosen sebagai Tenaga Profesional dalam Dunia Pendidikan

Abstract


Teachers must have characteristics or traits that can be emulated by their students, one of which is a professional attitude. Teachers always continue to learn and improve themselves, so that they can become professional teachers. This study aims to provide an understanding of the characteristics of professional teachers. This study is a descriptive qualitative study with a literature study research method. The characteristics of a professional teacher are all attitudes and actions of teachers both at school, outside of school and in the community, in providing services, increasing knowledge, providing guidance and motivation to students in various things, for example: how to behave between the younger and the older, the attitude of the younger towards the older, how to dress well traditionally or religiously, how to speak and relate well to students or attitudes towards colleagues, and other members of society. Professional teachers must meet four competencies, including pedagogical competence, personality competence, professional competence, and social competence, in Law No. 14 of 2005 concerning Teachers and Lecturers and Government Regulation No. 19 of 2005 stipulates that teachers and lecturers must be able to understand, comprehend, and be skilled in using new learning resources and master pedagogical competence, personality competence, professional competence, and competence. then education in Indonesia will be guaranteed in quality with the presence of qualified teachers. In addition, the characteristics of professional teachers with competent teachers are able to produce competent students as well.
