THE USE OF PICTURE SERIES IN TEACHING WRITING SKILL AT SMPN 1 RANAH BATAHAN

Abstract


The study aims to find out whether Picture Series 1 Ranah Batahan. There were two classes involved in this research as experiment and control classes that was chosen through simple random sampling. In collecting the data, the researcher used a written test only. The test was given to both classes with the same topic. Then, post-test was given after doing the treatments for five meetings to know the effect of picture series. The data were analyzed by using statistical procedures. T test was used to analyze the students post-test scores. The data were analyzed by using simple regression with 5% (0.05) and df 52-2=50. The result of this research showed that mean scores of perimental class (77.80) was higher than the content in experimental class got 22.76 score and control class got 19.42 score. Statistically, it was clear that teaching writing by using Picture Series gave significant effect toward Batahan. Based on research finding, it is concluded that teaching writing through Picture Series technique gave significant effect writing skill at Class IX in Junior High School 1 Ranah Batahan. So, it was recommended for the English teacher that they should consider the use of Picture Series Technique as a technique in teaching writing procedure text.
