THE IMPLEMENTATION ONLINE TEACHING AND LEARNING OF EFL AT GRADE XI SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL 1 SUNGAI GERINGGING

Abstract


Online learning is a type of distance learning that uses technology and the internet as the teaching and learning media. The emergence of government regulations regarding learning from home as a means of breaking the chain of covid 19 has forced teachers and students to adapt to online learning. Its abrupt implementation will undoubtedly cause many problems and obstacles for both teachers and students. This research aims to explain the implementation and problems encountered in online teaching and learning of EFL at grade XI Senior High School 1 Sungai Geringging. The method used in this research is qualitative, with data collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis consists of data condensing, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Meanwhile, use source triangulation techniques to test the data's validity. The results showed that the implementation of online teaching and learning of EFL at grade XI Senior High School 1 Sungai Geringging went well. The results showed that, despite several obstacles, the implementation of online learning for learning English in class XI Senior High School 1 Sungai Geringging went smoothly according to the lesson plan. Problems encountered by schools and students in online learning include
(1) geographical issues, (2) implementation issues, and (3) issues with the facilities used in online learning.
