ANALYSIS OF TEACHER'S STRATEGIES ON ENGLISH ONLINE LEARNING DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC AT TENTH GRADE OF MAN 4 AGAM

Abstract


The purpose of this study was to analyze the teaching strategies used by English teacher in online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic in the tenth grade of MAN 4 Agam. The methodology used in this study is qualitavive method. The subject of this research is the English teacher of the teanth grade of MAN 4 Agam. In collecting data the researcher used interview, observation and documentation. The data analysis technique used in this study was from Miles and Huberman, namely data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The results showed that the process of learning English in the tanth grade of MAN 4 Agam uses a hybridlearning system where online and offline are carried out simultaneously or alternately according to the situation and condition. Unstable internet connection and lack of students motivation are obstacles that must be faced. In addition, teachers and learning media used are WhatsApp Group and Google Form. The learning strategies used in online English learning are listening through story, cloze procedure, question generation, gueesing from context,games , and CIRC.
