Abstract
This study focuses on a mentoring strategy for the non-university journal management community. The strategy has two main orientations: improving the competence of journal managers/editors and achieving the quality standards of accredited national journals. As a community service strategy, this community service uses the participatory action research (PAR) method because it is oriented towards real and sustainable social transformation. The results of this community service found that journal managers and editors, as service partners, have several fundamental issues, especially in the aspect of understanding journal management according to national journal quality standards and the quality of published articles. These two issues are important considerations in planning a mentoring program that has a real and sustainable impact, so the program design is a workshop and the provision of mentoring as a form of follow-up. The implementation of this community service has proven to have a positive impact on the enthusiasm and commitment of journal managers and editors, as demonstrated by submitting their first accreditation application and successfully obtaining national recognition in the form of first accreditation with rank 4 (SINTA 4). Thus, the results of this community service recommend further service that focuses on developing a service model based on the specific needs of service partners and expanding the application of PAR in different contexts and orientations.
