PENGARUH PERSEPSI, SELF-EFFICACY, DAN PENGETAHUAN AKUNTANSI SYARIAH TERHADAP MINAT MAHASISWA AKUNTANSI SYARIAH BERKARIER DI LEMBAGA KEUANGAN SYARIAH (Studi Pada Mahasiswa Akuntansi Syariah UIN Imam Bonjol Padang)

Abstract


The development of the Islamic financial industry requires an adequate supply of human resources. However, the interest of university graduates in pursuing careers in this sector still needs to be enhanced. This phenomenon indicates that the significant potential of Islamic financial institutions has not been fully aligned with students' career preferences, making it essential to understand the factors that influence their career interests. This study aims to analyze the effect of perception, self-efficacy, and Islamic accounting knowledge on students' interest in pursuing careers in Islamic financial institutions. The population of this study consisted of 335 active students from the 2022 and 2023 cohorts of the Islamic Accounting Study Program at UIN Imam Bonjol Padang. The sample was selected using a purposive sampling technique, resulting in 182 respondents. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with SmartPLS 4 software. The results indicate that perception, self-efficacy, and Islamic accounting knowledge each have a positive and statistically significant effect on students' interest in pursuing careers in Islamic financial institutions. These findings suggest that all three variables contribute to increasing the career interest of Islamic Accounting students at UIN Imam Bonjol Padang in the Islamic financial sector.
