Perbedaan Nilai Dan Dilema Etis Dalam Pendampingan Psikologis Pada Konteks Keberagaman

Abstract

Cross-cultural counseling is a process of interaction between counselors and clients who come from different cultural backgrounds. This process requires a deep understanding of the diversity of values, norms, and beliefs. These cultural differences often give rise to complex and ethically challenging value conflicts. This article aims to examine value conflicts and ethical challenges in cross-cultural counseling using This study uses a qualitative method with a systematic literature study approach. Data were obtained from various scientific literature journals, books, and research reports in the last five years. The results of the study indicate that conflicts often arise when counselors apply their personal value framework to clients from other cultures, or when the client's cultural values are not in line with universal ethical principles in counseling practice. The dominant ethical challenges include issues of confidentiality, client autonomy, counselor cultural competence, and power imbalances in counseling relationships. Ethical dilemmas also often occur when counselors must choose between respecting the client's cultural values or following the professional code of ethics. This study emphasizes the importance of cross-cultural competence training and the development of a contextual and flexible ethical framework. A complete understanding of value conflicts and ethical challenges is an important foundation in building cross-cultural counseling practices that are ethical, inclusive, and responsive to client diversity.
