BUDAYA ARAB DAN BUDAYA ISLAM: Akulturasi dan Asimilasi

Abstract

Islam is a religion of rahmatan lil ‘alamiin that is universal. This means that the mission and teachings of Islam are not only aimed at one group or country, but all of humanity, even the universe. The concepts of acculturation and assimilation are key in understanding the relationship between Arab culture and Islamic culture. The method of this research is a literature review related to acculturation, assimilation of Arabic culture and Islamic culture. The data analysis technique in this study uses descriptive analysis techniques. The purpose of this research is to find out the process of acculturation, assimilation of Arabic culture and Islamic culture. The results of this study explain that Arabic culture and Islamic culture often overlap, but still maintain their own distinctiveness. A strong Arab cultural identity is often the basis for many Islamic practices, but Islam also shows flexibility to absorb new cultural elements during the acculturation process. The conclusion of this study is that the relationship between Islam as a universal religion and the influence of Arab culture, shows how Islam influences and is absorbed in Arab culture through the process of acculturation and assimilation. All of this shows that Arab culture and Islamic culture not only interact with each other, but also have a strong and mutually influential relationship.
