PENGARUH AGAMA ISLAM DALAM KEBUDAYAAN JAMBI [1990-2024]
Abstract
This research aims to collect scientific information about Jambi Malay culture by investigating the history of tengkuluk and the aesthetic value of Jambi Malay women's traditional clothing. The natural richness and cultural diversity of Jambi Province produces values such as beauty, philosophy, cultural values and aesthetics. The Tengkuluk headdress, which is an important part of the traditional clothing of Jambi women in Malaysia, is an aesthetic feature. A study shows that Tengkuluk has developed into a special identity for Jambi women. Historically, Tengkuluk cloth has been around since the 7th century. It was used by Malay women at that time to take part in traditional events and agricultural activities, such as rice fields and fields. Tengkuluk cloth has a deep meaning, not just a head covering. Not many people know about Jambi's many cultures. For a long time, Jambi, on the central coast of eastern Sumatra, has been a center of Malay culture. Evidence of the cultural customs of the Jambi Malay community is the tokoluk, a remnant of traditional women's headgear. Remembering the Jambi custom, "Tradition is Bersendi Syara', Syara' Bersendi kitabullah. Syara' Mengato, Syara' Mengakai," there is a philosophical connection between the use of tengkuluk as a symbol of head covering and Islamic customs. Apart from that, the custom of tying shawls for Jambi Malay women has extraordinary artistic and aesthetic value.
