Abstract


Language learners will have some difficulties in practicing their studied language. One of them is the effect of the mother language on the studied language, and this is inseparable from their existence as bilinguals where they use the studied language in the mother tongue. This study to find out the forms and types of interference of the Mandailing language in the use of Arabic by the students of the Darul Ulum Sipaho Islamic Boarding School and their contribution to the teaching of Arabic as a daily language at the Darul Ulum Sipaho Islamic Boarding School. To achieve this goal, relevant theories and linguistic data are used in the form of words, phrases, sentences, lexicon, and paragraphs that contain language interference. The data sources used in this study were students as informants, the data was obtained from the Darul Ulum Islamic Boarding School Sipaho. The linguistic data was obtained by using the listening method with the note-taking technique. The results of analyzing the data found four types of language interference, namely phonological, morphological, syntactic, and semantic interference. The results of this study can be used to avoid and minimize the occurrence of Batak language interference in the use of the Arabic language of Santri Pesantren Darul Ulum Sipaho.
