This Journal was first published in 1997 and was acredited in 2007 with ISSN 1410-2746 under the name Majalah Ilmu Pengetahuan dan Pemikiran Keagamaan Tajdid. Along with the times and change status from IAIN to UIN Imam Bonjol Padang which has a vision of becoming a competitive Islamic University in 2037, Tajdid has also made various changes and developments both in terms of format and journal processing standards.
Since the first publication until publication volume 17 2nd in November 2014, Majalah Ilmu Pengetahuan dan Keagamaan Tajdid used B5 paper size with 1 column. Then, volume 18 1st in May 2015, the paper size changed into A4 with 2 columns. Volume 20 1st in July 2017, Majalah Ilmu Pengetahuan dan Keagamaan Tajdid shifted its publishing from May - November to June - December, changed in the article template. Started from November, 12th 2019, Majalah Ilmu Pengetahuan dan Keagamaan Tajdid with a Decree of Kementerian Riset Teknologi dan Pendidikan Tinggi Direktort Jendral Penguatan Riset dan Pengembangan number B/3693/E5/E5.2.1/2019 about Notification of Scientific Journal Accreditation Results period VI in 2019, accredited by SINTA 5.
