Bengkel Kata: Journal of Islamic and Multidisciplinary Humanities is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes original research and scholarly work across the spectrum of Islamic studies and multidisciplinary humanities. The journal is committed to advancing knowledge, fostering critical thinking, and promoting rigorous scholarship that bridges traditional Islamic thought with contemporary humanistic, social, and cultural issues. It encourages studies that are analytical, evidence-based, and contribute to theoretical or practical insights in both local and global contexts.

The journal’s scope explicitly covers the following fields:

1. Islamic Studies, research on Qur’an and Hadith, classical and contemporary Islamic thought, theology, history of Islamic civilization, and intellectual developments in Islamic scholarly traditions. Submissions should provide deep textual, historical, or philosophical analysis.

2. Islamic Education, studies on Islamic education in formal and informal institutions such as madrasahs, pesantrens, and universities, including curriculum development, pedagogical innovations, and educational transformation in modern society. Research must demonstrate empirical or conceptual contributions to Islamic pedagogy.

3. Islamic Law and Society, studies on Islamic law, contemporary fiqh, maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah, and the interaction between legal frameworks, society, and modern social dynamics. Submissions should engage with critical legal and socio-cultural analyses.

4. Islamic Economics and Finance, research on sharia-based economics, Islamic finance, halal business, and ethical economic practices within global and local contexts. Articles should provide methodologically rigorous studies with practical relevance.

5. Islamic Communication and Da‘wah Studies, research on Islamic communication, media in da‘wah, rhetorical strategies, and the adaptation of Islamic propagation in digital societies. Submissions should address effectiveness, societal impact, and innovation in communication methods.

6. Islamic Philosophy and Intellectual Tradition, studies on Islamic philosophy, ethics, Muslim intellectual thought, and dialogues between Islamic and modern humanistic perspectives. Articles should advance theoretical understanding or reinterpret classical thought for contemporary application.

7. Islam, Culture, and Society, research on Islamic culture, religious anthropology, sociology of Islam, and the interaction of religion, culture, and society in diverse contexts. Studies must provide insightful socio-cultural analysis with empirical or theoretical grounding.

8. Multidisciplinary Humanities, research connecting Islamic studies with other humanities and social sciences, including history, linguistics, cultural studies, media studies, and contemporary issues affecting Muslim societies globally. Peer Review Process

Bengkel Kata: Journal of Islamic and Multidisciplinary Humanities implements a double-blind peer review system to ensure rigorous, impartial, and high-quality evaluation of all submitted manuscripts. In this process, the identities of both authors and reviewers are anonymized to maintain objectivity. All research articles submitted to the journal are reviewed by at least two qualified experts in the relevant field. Reviewers assess manuscripts based on originality, methodological rigor, clarity of presentation, relevance to the journal’s focus, and contribution to knowledge in Islamic and multidisciplinary humanities. Based on reviewer feedback, the Editor-in-Chief decides whether a manuscript is accepted, requires revision, or is rejected.

For manuscripts that require revision, the same reviewers may be consulted to verify that all necessary improvements have been adequately addressed, ensuring the revised paper meets the journal’s quality standards. In addition, the Editorial Board provides guidance to the Editor-in-Chief, supporting the review process and maintaining consistency in evaluation. Administrative support from Managing Editors and Editorial Assistants ensures that peer review is both efficient and transparent. For manuscripts referred from other high-quality journals, Editors may seek additional reviews when necessary and make prompt decisions regarding acceptance, revision, or rejection based on the previous reviews and editorial assessment. Through this structured and rigorous peer review process, the journal maintains the highest standards of scholarly integrity while fostering timely publication and scholarly excellence in the study of Islam and multidisciplinary humanities.

Plagiarism Screening

All manuscripts submitted to Bengkel Kata: Journal of Islamic and Multidisciplinary Humanities undergo plagiarism screening using tools such as Turnitin to ensure originality and compliance with international academic integrity standards. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism or self-plagiarism will be immediately rejected.

Plagiarism is defined as presenting ideas, words, data, or information from another source without proper attribution. Authors must cite sources when using specific details (names, dates, statistics, or other unique data), except for widely known general knowledge. When an idea is derived from another author, it must be cited, even if the author further develops or interprets it. Direct quotations of four or more consecutive words require quotation marks and citation; citation alone is insufficient.

The journal emphasizes strict adherence to academic integrity. The editorial team reserves the right to withdraw acceptance from any manuscript found violating these standards. Authors with questions regarding plagiarism policies may contact the editorial office.

Reviewer Guidelines

Bengkel Kata: Journal of Islamic and Multidisciplinary Humanities expects reviewers to conduct rigorous, objective, and accountable evaluations, ensuring that each manuscript meets the highest standards of academic integrity, clarity, and scientific contribution. Reviewers must verify that the manuscript presents a cohesive, logical, and well-structured argument with ideas expressed clearly, avoiding ambiguity, redundancy, or irrelevant content. The title must accurately summarize the study and its key findings, be concise, clear, fully representative of the main result or conclusion, and avoid abbreviations, jargon, or implicit terms. Writing must be concise, precise, academically rigorous, and free from grammatical or stylistic errors, while sections must be proportioned appropriately, enhancing comprehension and logical progression. The abstract must be self-contained, precise, informative, and include the aim, method, results, and conclusion. The introduction must present a clear background and research context, cite relevant recent literature (last ten years), justify the novelty of the study, identify research gaps, inconsistencies, or controversies, and clearly state the research problem, hypothesis (if applicable), methodological approach, and study objectives. The method section must provide sufficient detail for replication, including participants, instruments, location, procedures, and data analysis techniques, ensuring validity, reliability, and appropriateness. Results and discussion must present processed and organized data in tables or figures with descriptive explanations, directly address research questions or objectives, be interpreted scientifically in comparison with prior studies, and explicitly state implications, limitations, and areas for future research. Conclusions must clearly answer research objectives, may include practical or theoretical implications, and be written in coherent paragraphs without bullet points. Reviewers are responsible for providing honest, constructive, and unbiased evaluations, disclosing any conflicts of interest immediately, supporting recommendations with detailed reasoning and specific references to the manuscript content, and ensuring compliance with the journal’s ethical standards and formatting requirements.

Bengkel Kata: Journal of Islamic and Multidisciplinary Humanities is committed to providing open-access scholarly content without financial barriers for authors. Therefore, no submission, processing, or publication fees (APC – Article Processing Charges) are required for any author.

• All authors, regardless of nationality, institutional affiliation, or funding status, can submit and publish their manuscripts free of charge.

• The journal does not charge fees for peer review, editorial services, typesetting, or online hosting.

• This policy ensures that the publication process remains equitable, transparent, and accessible, supporting the journal’s mission to disseminate high-quality research in Islamic and multidisciplinary humanities globally.
