Journal History

AL-AQIDAH Journal is an academic journal initially published by the Department of Aqidah and Philosophy at IAIN Imam Bonjol Padang since June 2009. The department has since transitioned into the Study Program of Aqidah and Islamic Philosophy (AFI), under the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Religious Studies (FUSA) at UIN Imam Bonjol Padang. The journal is published biannually, in June and December, and holds an ISSN number of 2086-0439, officially registered with the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) in March 2013.

The journal focuses on scholarly discourse in the fields of Philosophy and Islamic Philosophy, Intellectual Thought and Islamic Thought, Islamic Theology, and Sufism. Throughout its development, the editorial board has implemented several innovations, including the transformation from a printed bulletin to a magazine format, enhancements in visual presentation with more refined and colorful cover designs, and the transition from print-based publication to an online journal as it is currently available.
