Author Guidelines
GUIDELINES FOR WRITING RESEARCH ARTICLES FOR THE AL-AQIDAH JOURNAL
1. GENERAL GUIDELINES
a. The manuscript is a summary of the author’s own research and has never been published elsewhere.
b. The research should relate to Islamic Thought, Philosophy, Islamic Philosophy, Theology, and Sufism.
c. The manuscript must be written in Word format, following the provided template. The article writing template can be seen in the explanation below.
d. The manuscript should be written in Indonesian, English, or Arabic using Times New Roman font, size 11. The length should be around 10–16 pages, single-spaced.
e. The page layout should use two columns with equal column width and a column spacing of 5 mm. However, the title, author’s identity, and abstract should be in a single column.
f. The paper size should be A4, with margins of 3.5 cm for the top, bottom, and left sides, and 2.0 cm for the right side.
2. WRITING STRUCTURE
a. Preliminary Section: title, author’s name, institution, email, and abstract.
b. Main Section: includes introduction, literature review and hypothesis development (if any), research methods, research results and discussion, and conclusion.
c. Final Section: contains symbol description (if any) and references.
3. WRITING FORMAT
1. TITLE AND AUTHOR'S NAME
a. The title must be written in uppercase (capital letters), bold, Times New Roman font size 14, single-spaced, and contain a maximum of 15 words.
b. The author’s name is written below the title without academic degrees, not abbreviated, capitalized at the beginning, preceded by the word "by," and arranged by order of contribution: first author, followed by the second, third, and so on.
c. The institution/university and email of each author must be listed below the name using Times New Roman, font size 10.
2. ABSTRACT
a. Abstracts should be written in both Indonesian and English if the article is in Indonesian, in Arabic and English if the article is in Arabic, and in English only if the article is in English.
b. The abstract must summarize the research background/problem, method/solution, and results. The word abstract/abstrak should be in bold.
c. The abstract must not exceed 215 words and should be single-spaced.
d. Font for the abstract: Calibri size 11, justified, in a single paragraph, without indentation.
e. The abstract should be followed by Keywords (3–5 words) that reflect the main content. The word Keywords should be in bold.
3. GENERAL WRITING RULES
a. All subheadings should be in Times New Roman, font size 12, bold.
b. New paragraphs should be indented using first-line indent (0.75 cm), without spacing between paragraphs.
c. Foreign terms must be italicized.
d. All numbers should be written as numerals, except at the beginning of sentences or when writing whole numbers less than ten, which should be spelled out.
e. Tables and figures must have clear titles and be numbered sequentially.
4. REFERENCES
References must follow the Harvard Referencing Style. All references listed must be cited in the manuscript. Up-to-date sources are strongly encouraged.
A. Books
Author 1, Author 2, etc. (Last name, first initial). Year. Book Title in Italics. Edition. Publisher. Place of Publication.

B. Journal Articles

C. Conference Proceedings
Author 1, Author 2, etc. (Last name, first initial). Year. Article Title. Conference Name. Date, Month Year, City, Country. Page numbers.

D. Thesis or Dissertation
Author (Last name, first initial). Year. Title. Undergraduate Thesis, Master’s Thesis, or Dissertation. University.
Example:
Soegandhi. 2009. Aplikasi model kebangkrutan pada perusahaan daerah di Jawa Timur. Thesis. Faculty of Economics, Joyonegoro University, Surabaya.
E. Website Sources
Author. Year. Title. URL Address. Access Date.

5. ADDITIONAL RULES
a. Tables
Tables should be numbered in order of appearance (Table 1, etc.), without right or left borders. The table title is placed above the table, centered.

b. Figures
Figures must be numbered in order of appearance (Figure 1, etc.). The title of the figure is placed below the image, centered.
