Are Graduates Ready for Work? A Systematic Review of Employability Skills in Society 5.0

Abstract


This article aims to review the overview related to employability skills and work readiness for new graduates. Fresh graduates are not only required to master technical knowledge related to their field of study, but also must have general skills such as soft skills and hard skills. The method used in this paper is a PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) with a period of 2020-2024 data collection is obtained from the Scopus and Pubmed portals with the keywords “work readiness” and “employability skills”. The findings obtained in this literature review emphasize the importance of collaboration between educational institutions and industry to develop a curriculum that is more relevant and effective in preparing graduates for the job market. A broad-based education that focuses not only on academic knowledge but also on developing soft skills to create fresh graduates who are responsive, adaptive, and ready to face global dynamics.
