Editorial Policies

Focus and Scope

Jurnal Imlah aims to facilitate scholarly discussion at the intersection of Arabic Linguistics, Manuscript Studies, and Islamic Heritage. The journal focuses on uncovering the linguistic richness and intellectual history embedded in Arabic texts and Arabic-Malay (Jawi) manuscripts, serving as a bridge between traditional philology and contemporary Islamic studies.

Scope:

  1. Arabic Linguistics (syntax, morphology, semantics, and stylistics)
  2. Philology of Arabic & Arabic-Malay Manuscripts (Studies on the physical and textual tradition of manuscripts in the Malay-Indonesian)
  3. Islamic Heritage & Intellectual History (History of ideas and intellectual of Malay, The interaction between Islam and local wisdom)
  4. Islamic Studies (Theology, Jurisprudence, Sufism, Tafsir, and Reinterpretation of classical Islamic texts in response to modern issues)

Peer Review Process

Imlah: Islamic Manuscripts of Linguistics and Humanity is an electronic journal published by UPT Pengembangan Bahasa of Universitas Islam Negeri Imam Bonjol Padang, West Sumatra, Indonesia. The review proccess uses double blind review system. Those articles evaluated by editors to be inappropriate to journal criteria are rejected promptly without external review. Articles evaluated to be of potential interest to our readership are sent to reviewers. The final decision of the acceptance or rejection of the article is made by Editor-in-Chief based on the comments given by the reviewers. Screening of plagiarism will be done by utilizing Google Scholar and/or Viper. The accepted research articles will be available online following the journal peer-reviewing process. Language used in this journal is English or Arabic.

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

 

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...
