Implementasi Metode Kalam untuk Meningkatkan Maharah Kalam

Abstract

The mastery of maharah kalam (speaking skills) is a crucial indicator in Arabic language learning as well as a manifestation of 21st-century communication skill demands. However, the reality in the field, particularly at the elementary education level such as Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, indicates a low proficiency in this skill due to the dominance of conventional, grammar-focused, teacher-centered learning methods. Students frequently experience psychological barriers in the form of linguistic anxiety and technical obstacles such as a lack of vocabulary. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of implementing the Kalam Method as a pedagogical solution to overcome these problems. This research employs a qualitative approach with a library research design. Data collection was conducted through the documentation of various primary and secondary literature, including scientific journals and textbooks, which were then analyzed using descriptive-analytical content analysis techniques. The results of the study indicate that the Kalam Method, which is rooted in the Direct Method, is effective in dismantling students' mental blockades through oral habituation and the minimization of mother tongue usage. The implementation of this method is carried out through three systematic stages: the pre-communicative phase, guided practice, and free communication.
