The Effect of Creative Problem Solving on Student’s Creative Thinking Ability on Dynamics Rotation and Equilibrium of Rigid Bodies

Abstract


The problem identified in this study is the low creative thinking skills of students, especially when studying the topic of rotational dynamics and equilibrium of rigid bodies. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of applying the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) learning model on the creative thinking skills of grade XI students on the topic. The research was conducted at SMA Negeri 07 Tambun Selatan for three weeks in October 2022, involving 72 students as samples. This sample was selected using saturated sampling method, consisting of 36 students of class XI MIPA 2 as the control group and 36 students of XI MIPA 2 as the experimental group. The research method used was quasi-experiment with non-equivalent control group design. The results of hypothesis testing on posttest data using the Mann Whitney U Test at a significance level of 5% (0.05) showed rejection of H0, indicating that the application of the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) learning model has a significant effect on students' creative thinking skills. The development of creative thinking skills of experimental class students (N-gain 0.41 medium category) is higher than that of control class students (N-gain 0.32 medium category). The level of student response to the use of the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) learning model reached a very good category of 81.90%.
