ANALISIS STRUKTURALISME ROBERT STANTON TERHADAP PUISI AL-MAUT FIL-GHABAH KARYA MAHMOUD DARWISH
Abstract
Humanitarian tragedies from geopolitical oppression often reduce victims to statistics, positioning resistance poetry to record trauma and voice collective steadfastness (Sumud). Political poetry analysis frequently suffers from biased biographical-historical approaches; thus, an autonomous tool like Robert Stanton’s Structuralism Theory dissecting facts, literary devices, and themes is required to objectively examine the text's submission-resistance confrontation. This qualitative-descriptive study aims to uncover the organic interconnectedness among textual elements in Mahmoud Darwish's poem Al-Maut fil-Ghabah (in Arabic script and transliteration) using note-taking and autonomous content analysis. The findings reveal a meticulous structural inversion (shifting tone). Initially, textual facts are dominated by resignation and extinction through the diction of "sleep", "extinguished stars", and "withered olives". However, literary devices like the irony of a withered flower bandage and extreme theological personification trigger the emergence of the "Brother" figure as an alert agent of resistance, transforming the "Forest" (the law of the jungle/death) into the tightly grasped "Soil" as a symbol of eternal ownership. In conclusion, the poem possesses a perfect organic unity where physical death signifies the pinnacle of inner human resistance rather than defeat. Future researchers are recommended to utilize Genetic Structuralism or Postcolonial approaches to link this autonomous structure with socio-political realities.
