Women's Legal Awareness in the Prevention and Handling of Domestic Violence

Abstract

This study aims to determine women's legal awareness in cases of domestic violence and the efforts that can be made to prevent it. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method by discussing the main topics of legal awareness and domestic violence. The sources used are literature studies and documentation discussing the main topics of the study and social media data. The results of the study show that domestic violence is one of the polemics in the domestic sphere. Legal awareness has a positive impact on society, especially women, in cases of domestic violence, as society and women can defend and protect themselves. The lack of legal awareness is caused by the prevalence of stigma or patriarchal culture in society. Although some regions have begun to develop "legal awareness," it is still generally lacking, considering the increasing number of domestic violence cases each year. The legal awareness of individuals or groups also has a significant influence. Therefore, in order to develop and raise legal awareness in society, cooperation is needed from all stakeholders, from the government and law enforcement to the community and civil society.
