Trauma Healing Through Tazkiyatun Nafs with The Al-Ghazali Approach
Abstract
Trauma is a psychological disorder that significantly affects an individual's mental and emotional well-being. Effective trauma management is essential to support mental health recovery and improve quality of life. This study examines the concept and methods of trauma healing through the Tazkiyatun Nafs approach according to Imam Al-Ghazali, which emphasizes the gradual purification of the soul through the stages of takhalli (cleansing of negative traits), tahalli (cultivation of virtuous traits), and tajalli (achieving spiritual closeness to Allah SWT). This approach integrates spiritual, emotional, and intellectual dimensions as a holistic solution in trauma healing. The findings indicate that Tazkiyatun Nafs effectively helps individuals free themselves from emotional wounds, strengthen mental and emotional resilience, and open their hearts to receive true peace and happiness. This method contributes to improved quality of life and firmness in facing modern life challenges. The study recommends integrating this spiritual approach into holistic and culturally relevant mental health practices.
