General Inquiries or Complaints

Anyone who wishes to express concerns or file a complaint regarding any aspect of being published in Tarikhuna can send an email to tarikhuna@uinib.ac.idTarikhuna will acknowledge the receipt of emails sent to tarikhuna@uinib.ac.id within 14 business days, after which the Editor-in-Chief will lead the investigation. This inquiry will determine whether the proper procedures were followed. Tarikhuna will examine the submission’s history and review all communications between the author, Editor, and reviewers. If necessary, the parties involved may be contacted for additional information.

The complainant will receive a written response about the outcome. While Tarikhuna aims to resolve issues as quickly as possible—ideally within six weeks—complex cases may take longer depending on factors such as the nature of the concern, availability of relevant data, or the involvement of multiple authors and institutions.

To ensure fairness, we request that those raising complaints refrain from public commentary until the investigation has concluded.

Complaints Regarding Published Content

Concerns about published content are handled confidentially regardless of the complainant’s status. Often, an internal review is conducted to determine whether a full investigation is required. All investigations will involve collaboration between the author and the Journal Editor. In some cases, third parties like independent experts, the author’s institution, or funding bodies may be consulted.

We strive to keep complainants anonymous whenever possible, though certain cases may reveal their identity. Once the investigation is concluded, the complainant will be informed of the outcome. To maintain confidentiality, regular updates cannot be provided throughout the process.

Appealing Editorial Decisions

Editors have wide discretion in deciding if a submission is appropriate for the journal. Many submissions are rejected without external review, often with a general explanation. These decisions cannot be formally appealed.

However, if an author believes that the rejection was not aligned with the journal’s policies and procedures, they may appeal by submitting a detailed, point-by-point response to the reviewers' and editor’s comments. The Editor will then reassess the peer review process. If the rejection followed editorial guidelines, the decision is final.

Appealing Post-Publication Corrective Actions

If concerns arise about a published article, the Editor will decide if a retraction or other corrective actions are necessary. As outlined in the authorship agreement, Tarikhuna reserve the right to make corrections in order to maintain the integrity of the academic record. Decisions regarding retraction or expressions of concern are final.
