Abstract


The study of pragmatics in Arabic is still relatively scarce; when it exists, it does not reach the context of the speaker. Thus, analyzing pragmatics in Arabic news becomes an interesting topic. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with a note-taking method on a news article from Al Jazeera regarding the use of artificial intelligence in the academic environment. The results show that Arabic discourse in the form of news contains many pragmatic contextual meanings, such as prohibitions, commands, dilemmas, warnings, and others.
