The Effectiveness of the Team Games Tournament (TGT) Model Using the Baamboozle Platform to Enhance the Reading Skills of Eighth-Grade Female Students at Mu'allimin Muhammadiyah Islamic Boarding School, Sawah Dangka

Abstract


This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the Team Games Tournament (TGT) model using the Baamboozle platform in enhancing the Arabic reading skills of eighth-grade female students at Mu'allimin Muhammadiyah Islamic Boarding School, Sawah Dangka. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research sample consisted of 43 female students, including 21 students in the experimental group and 22 students in the control group. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests and analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 26. The findings revealed that the mean post-test score of the experimental group was 85.71, which was higher than that of the control group (64.14). Furthermore, the results of the Independent Samples t-test showed that the significance value (Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000) was lower than 0.05, indicating a statistically significant difference between the two groups. The N-Gain analysis also demonstrated that the improvement percentage in the experimental group reached 68.92%, which falls into the moderately effective category, whereas the control group achieved only 25.00%, which is categorized as low effectiveness. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Team Games Tournament (TGT) model using the Baamboozle platform is effective in enhancing the Arabic reading skills of eighth-grade female students at Mu'allimin Muhammadiyah Islamic Boarding School, Sawah Dangka.
