THE EFFECT OF PAIR WORK STRATEGY ON STUDENTS’ SPEAKING ABILITY AT SEVENTH GRADE JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL 3 BAYANG

Abstract


The students at class VII Junior High School 3 Bayang had many problems in speaking English, such as students’ lack of vocabulary, fluency and pronunciation. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences students speaking achievement between those taught by using pair work strategy. This research was an experimental research. Post test experimental class and control class were used to analyze data. The population of this research was all students at grade VII at Junior High School 3 Bayang. The researcher use cluster random sampling for getting the sample class so it was two classess as a sample. Class VII A as the experiment class that consist of 26 students and VII B as control class that consist of 24 students. After five meetings, this post test was analyze by use statistical procedural. The result of this research show that the mean score of students speaking in experimental class (77.30) is higher that the mean score of students speaking in control class (69.66). It can conclude that pairwork strategy give the significant effect especially considering five components of speaking. It’s mean that hypothesis was accept.
